Wonder is a novel about a young boy named August Pullman who has had to deal with facial abnormalities his entire life and explores his trouble with starting school for the first time in year 5.
This book displays both the thoughts and feelings of Auggie and of the other main characters, each with their own part of the book.
This term at school my class was asked to read and analyse Wonder based on why children in year 9 should read it. In doing this it was evident that there is so much we can take away from this novel, hope, understanding, perseverance, friendship, love, courage, and be strong even in the face of adversity
Each of the main characters, Auggie, Via, Summer, Jack, Justin and Miranda, all had their own struggles and ways of overcoming them, some were better than others. Each part of the book was thrilling and unexpected, I just couldn’t put it down.
This is a feel-good family book and is a must-read for any person of any age. READ BEFORE WATCHING THE MOVIE!
